If your garage door isn’t opening or closing properly, the problem could be with the cables that operate the door. Over time, these cables can become frayed or even snapped and will need to be repaired or replaced in order to get your door working again.

While it’s possible to do this repair yourself, it’s best to leave it to the professionals. Garage door cables are under a lot of tension and can be dangerous to work with if you’re not experienced.

If you’re having trouble with your garage door, contact a local garage door repair company to have a technician take a look. They’ll be able to diagnose the problem and make the necessary repairs to get your door working like new again.

Guide For Inspecting By Yourself

Start by disconnecting the power to your garage door opener. Then, open the door manually to release the tension on the cables. Next, remove the old cables by unscrewing the brackets that hold them in place. Once the old cables are out, you can thread the new ones through the brackets and screw them in place.

Finally, reconnect the power to your garage door opener and test the door to make sure it’s working properly. If it still isn’t opening or closing correctly, you may need to adjust the tension on the cables.
